5G Radiation Dangers
5G is the “5th Generation” of wireless technology, and telecom companies nationwide are rapidly rolling it out, citing faster download speeds and better connections to meet customer demand. The infrastructure of this technology involves the placement of ‘small cells’ or wireless transmitters at close range, in public rights of way, throughout cities, towns, and in neighborhoods – essentially forming a wireless information grid that can do anything from collect and send data, to support driverless cars, to allow for greater surveillance & security capabilities. 5G’s small cell technology is built to allow for the transmission of millimeter wave signals at frequencies exponentially higher what we are currently exposed to (up to 100 GHz or more). We are told that due to the nature of these millimeter waves, transmitters must be placed every few hundred feet – meaning that if you live near a street, sidewalk, or any other public right of way, you could wake up tomorrow and have a small cell essentially in your front yard, beaming your home with high-frequency radiation, 24/7.
To date, there have been NO industry studies done on the safety of 5G technology – in fact, at a recent Senate hearing the wireless industry testified to having spent exactly $0.00 on health and safety studies… that’s right – ZERO DOLLARS (click here to view their testimony). Yet they intend to roll this technology out nationwide, throwing any semblance of precaution to the wind.
In 2011, the World Health Organization classified wireless radiation a Class 2B (possible) carcinogen, while some experts feel that classification as a 2A probable or Class 1 known carcinogen is more appropriate. Indeed, the recent decade-long, $25 million dollar study conducted by the National Toxicology Program found clear evidence that radio frequency radiation causes cancer in rats, with whom we share a significant portion of our DNA.1 High exposure to radio frequency radiation associated with cancer in male rats, Virginia Guidry: https://factor.niehs.nih.gov/2018/11/feature/1-feature-radiation/index.htm Furthermore, The BioInitiative Report of 2012 – a compilation of over 1,200 independent (non-industry funded) peer reviewed studies on wireless radiation shows that biological effects occur at levels far below FCC safety guidelines (which, by the way, have not been updated since 1996).2 Human Exposure to Radio Frequency Fields: Guidelines for Cellular Antenna Sites, FCC: https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/human-exposure-radio-frequency-fields-guidelines-cellular-and-pcs-sites
So what’s the concern with installing infrastructure everywhere that will blast us consistently with even higher frequencies than what we are currently exposed to? First and foremost are the scientifically established health effects which occur even at frequencies of 2.4 GHz and less: single & double-stranded DNA breaks, oxidative damage to cells and tissues, disrupted cellular metabolism (turns on the Warburg Effect which is linked to cancer), leaky cell membranes, increased blood brain barrier permeability, increased stress proteins, and decreased melatonin production to name just a few. Consequently this radiation is linked to things like headaches, insomnia, neurological disturbances (fatigue, anxiety, depression), behavioral problems in children, memory loss & cognitive disturbances, decreased immune system function, increased antibiotic resistance in pathogens, heart palpitations and arrythmias, autoimmune diseases, neurodegenerative diseases (such as MS, parkinsons, and alzheimers), type II diabetes, and cancer.3 Evaluation of the Effect of Radiofrequency Radiation Emitted From Wi-Fi Router and Mobile Phone Simulator on the Antibacterial Susceptibility of Pathogenic Bacteria Listeria monocytogenes and Escherichia coli.: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28203122?fbclid=IwAR3fLwzlkJeIk24DuXe0vqzLpyAFbfR9OwZXsuzk2-XUjmvA-6C5HQMIeJg4 Wi-Fi is an important threat to human health, Dr. Martin Pall: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0013935118300355?fbclid=IwAR3HHXGXEVUolKEa_dz5IiOiPwAQILKPFCGi8XOJps6mMvX4VhnxOMxVFHI5 Microwave frequency electromagnetic fields (EMFs) produce widespread neuropsychiatric effects including depression, Dr. Martin Pall: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S08910618150005996 Effects of electromagnetic fields exposure on the antioxidant defense system, Kivrak et al.: https://reader.elsevier.com/reader/sd/pii/S2213879X17300731?token=093F58662BED95F514826DF6B4F7E256E1303211E8E3AE32083958C4C843CE64DA0F6E004AD88190AA5B78037FD2FA34
Also worth considering is the environmental impact of wireless radiation, which has been linked to necrosis in plants, and the decline of bees and insect populations worldwide. And this is with our current levels of electromagnetic pollution, again mainly in the range of 2.4 to 5 GHz.
5G will open up the spectrum to pulsed frequencies of 100 GHz and beyond. And if the FCC gets their way, it is coming to your neighborhood soon. It’s time to take back our power as a community and demand a moratorium on this technology until it is proven safe.
